Songbook: Tapping, Shaking, Music Making!

Friday Fave: Italy, Spain and Home Again

by Rachel on August 31, 2012

You’ve probably noticed that aside from my weekly song posts, the blog has been pretty quiet over the past couple of weeks. I don’t like to go without posting for long, but this time I had a good excuse: I was on vacation in Italy and Spain!

My husband and I had the time of our lives traveling through Rome, Florence, Venice and Barcelona. And while initially I had planned on keeping a daily journal on my personal blog, it turned out that we were way too busy for that. But I did manage to write about the first few days, as well as a final recap of the vacation along with links to all of our photos:

Italy, Spain and Home Again

I’ve only been home for a few days, but I’m finally starting to get over my post-vacation blues and back into the swing of things. I’m looking forward to having a productive Labor Day weekend, followed by the beginning of the fall session here at the studio on Tuesday.

This summer was a blur of hard work (from both myself and my students!) and fun; a European vacation was the perfect ending to my favorite season. How are you spending the final weekend of summer as we know it?

Thank you, Kat!! I missed my MT posse LOTS while I was away!! Nothing like an amazing vacation to recharge your battery and get you excited for a brand new school year. Happy back-to-school time to you, too :)

Welcome back! I’m thinking SURELY there’s a need for an MT conference in Tuscany. Your posse could arrange this every other year or so. Personally I am looking at PhD programs studying cat napping (or similar low stress study) anywhere in Europe. Did you go to La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona? It is amazing from a mathmatical/archeticture standpoint. I felt like I was in a forest from Lord of the Rings. I am so glad you got to go; I have a feeling this won’t be the last European vacation for “Family Rambach.”

Thank you, Rene! Hmm, I think you’re onto something with the need for an MT conference in Tuscany…and please tell me if you find such a PhD program ;) You know, that is one of the very few places we did not make it to (guess that means we’ll have to go back!). It may be awhile before we hit Europe again, but we’ve already got our flights and hotel booked for Maui in December. I can live with that.
