Some days just cry out for a cup of Starbucks coffee, don’t you think? Today is one of them: a cold, cloudy Saturday with a long to-do list awaiting my attention. Luckily, I received over $100 in Starbucks gift cards from my lovely students for Christmas, so each cup of coffee is like a little present.
Most mornings, I chug down my Cuisinart-brewed cup of Dunkin’ Donuts Hazelnut coffee (heavenly) while getting ready for work. But on Saturdays, I can actually take my time and enjoy every sip while I read the paper and catch up on my favorite blogs.
Maybe I’ll make today’s order a double, because here’s what I’m planning to accomplish over the next few hours:
- Record vocals for 6 new songs for Songs For Teaching
- Plan, record, and edit tomorrow’s Sunday Singalong video
- Record a Q&A video for Andrew Knight’s UND music therapy class
- Create my February session plans for school & private practice
- Burn countless supplemental music therapy CDs
- Finally tackle my December bookkeeping
- Answer reader emails
All of this by 5 pm, at which time I’ll need to get ready for date night (!) with my husband. Ambitious? Yes. Impossible? No…especially since I’ll have a little help from my grande skinny hazelnut latte. Which begs the question: what is your drink (Starbucks or otherwise) of choice?
Wow, you’ve inspired me! My drink of choice, when it’s available, is the skinny pumpkin pie latte. I mark my calendar when it comes out every year. ; ) I’m excited for your new “Songs For Teaching” song… that’s awesome!
Oh, Jessica – I am a Starbucks fiend when the pumpkin spice latte is available! It’s always a sad day when they take it off the menu. Glad I inspired you this morning :) Now I better get back to work!
Every Saturday is Starbucks day at our house! :) My choice is always a mocha, usually peppermint, especially during the holidays. In the summer, I like it iced but most of the time I have it hot. Add to that a comfy couch and a husband with his Venti brewed coffee and you’ve got a winning combination!
Sounds like you have a good thing going on your Saturdays, Justine!!
Any coffee is my drink of choice! My favorite is when it is fresh ground and made in my french press.
I love, love, love the Mint White Mocha at the Java House. It’s an IC staple (and there are 3 in my hospital). If you ever visit, I will treat you to any of their specialties! And today, my only plan is to snuggle my most adorable nephew; no caffeine required for that.
I saw “Starbucks” in the title and had to come read! I’m with Michelle– every day is a coffee day for me. My go-to drink at Starbucks is a grande nonfat caramel macchiato. Once upon a time, many years ago, in a Starbucks far far away from where I currently live– the barista would get one started for me when he saw me walk through the doors. Ah, now you’ve got me craving coffee!! Hope you made it through the to-do list!
New England runs on Dunkin’. The one down the street from me gets that “medium regular” (cream and sugar) just right:-) I love Starbucks too, there just aren’t as many around here!
My drink of choice right now is from Starbucks… peppermint mocha. Mmm. Chocolate and mint are just so perfect together. It is like drinking peppermint bark, which is the candy version I also love. But my drink of choice tends to change depending on what time of year it is! I like mocha frappachinos and iced mocha lattes in the summer and pumpkin spice fraps in the fall!
I hope you accomplished all you set out to accomplish today. You must be super organized!
The only thing I ever order from Starbucks (during the winter anyway) is a tall americano with room for cream. Simple and tasty :)
Tall americano with extra room for cream AND whipped cream on top. I like a splash of coffee with my dairy products. :-) Oh…add a cranberry ______anything to go with that!
Ha, well I actually work at Starbucks while in school and… I’m pretty simple coffee made in a French Press is really the best way to have it! It brings out all of the natural flavors of the coffee. Every morning, that’s what I drink. My favorite whole bean coffee is the Red african blend. so good!
