Costumes on Parade Halloween Song with Lyrics Video | Listen & Learn Music

With so many music therapists, teachers, and educators utilizing digital resources right now, I’ve been making my materials as accessible as possible so that they can be used in a variety of ways. That includes creating videos to accompany my songs, the latest of which comes right in time for Halloween.

“Costumes on Parade” was inspired by memories of my own childhood costume parades, along with the experience of getting to enjoy my children’s costume parades (minus this year, when they were cancelled due to COVID-19). And while Halloween will look different in general this year, I know that most children will still be dressing up.

My original lyrics can serve as a template; ask your students and clients which costumes THEY would like to include in the song. Harry Potter, Moana, Black Panther, Harley Quinn, Alexander Hamilton…the possibilities are endless!

At my house, we have a daily countdown going until Halloween. The grandparents are each hosting a Halloween scavenger hunt for my kids during the day (we are thankful it falls on a Saturday this year!), and then we will distantly pass out candy to trick-or-treaters in the evening. My family typically hosts quite a few neighborhood families for trick-or-treating followed by a pizza party, but this year we are playing it safe with a pared-down celebration.

What are your plans for Halloween? I would love to hear if you have any creative, COVID-friendly tricks up your sleeve. No matter how you’re celebrating, I hope you have fun and stay safe!
