When I purchased the domain name for Listen & Learn Music a little over 9 years ago, I never imagined this would become a place that would help me connect with hundreds of music therapists, teachers, and parents across the country. Every time I attend AMTA national conference, it’s especially apparent just how many friends I’ve made through this tiny corner of the internet.
It’s amazing how connected you can feel to other people just through blog comments, email conversations, and social media exchanges. There are countless music therapists I’ve communicated with only in those ways, who then feel like old friends when we finally meet in person.
I am truly grateful to each one of you who took the time to talk with me at conference last week, who has purchased a song, who is a member of Listen & Learn Plus, who has sent me an email, who has liked one of my photos on Instagram, who is reading this post right now.
While I absolutely love my direct service work with music therapy clients and teaching my early childhood classes, this is my true happy place. My favorite part of my job is songwriting, recording, and sharing resources here, and very few things put a bigger smile on my face than when I hear how you used a Listen & Learn song in your own work.
You’re the reason why I continue to create in this space, and I hope to still be doing so in another 9 years. Thank you for the encouragement and feedback you’ve provided, and for letting me know my work matters. Yours does too, and I’m so happy to have a small hand in providing you with useful tools.
