Winter Recital 2019 | Listen & Learn Music

Years ago, watching my students perform in our annual Music Therapy Connections recital, I remember thinking, “Someday that will be my own kids up there.”

Parker was a toddler and Mia Belle was an infant at the time, so the idea of them performing in a recital seemed like light years into the future. I didn’t quite understand back then how fast time goes by when you are a parent, but now I can fully appreciate that fact.

“Someday” came this past weekend, when Parker (age 6) and Mia Belle (age 4) got up in front of a packed house to perform their solos. Well, Mia mostly giggled her way through “Jingle Bells”, but it still counts :) Parker’s confidence in both singing and playing the ukulele was truly impressive, and I was an incredibly proud mom.

There are many more years of recitals and performances in our future, but I will always hold a special place in my heart for this very first one. I can’t wait to pull out these videos when they are seniors in high school and reminisce about how far they’ve come!
